The Alexa Smart Home team is focused on making Alexa the user interface for the connected home. From the simplest voice commands (turn on the lights, turn down the thermostat) to use cases spanning home security, home entertainment, and the home environment, we are evolving Alexa into an intelligent, indispensable companion that automates daily routines, simplifies interaction with appliances and electronics, and helps customers get the most out of the technology in their lives.
As a Principal TPM on this team, you will be responsible for identifying, scoping, and delivering novel new architectural enhancements across Alexa. You will work directly with Principal Software Engineers and other technical experts to identify opportunities to make the Smart Home experience more performant and simpler for customers. You will then be required to articulate the technical vision to executive leadership, outlining the cost / benefit analysis of moving forward with various options, and ultimately driving the technical direction across the Alexa org. You will work on delivering end-to-end projects that span Alexa experiences, voice user interfaces, and cloud services. You will lead and coordinate implementation efforts between internal teams, device manufacturers, and customers. You will balance customer and business needs versus technical constraints, and make appropriate trade offs to optimize time-to-market. The job requires a high degree of maturity and judgement, as well as the ability to negotiate and influence.

The Smart Home Experience organization is focused on making Smart Home more performant and simpler for customers. We’re a close-knit team whose purview spans across voice, GUI, and autonomous experiences.
- Experience managing projects across cross functional teams, building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules
- 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
- 7+ years of technical program management experience
- Excellent communication skills and comfort working with both technical experts and executive leadership
- High detail orientation and a willingness to dive into the details
- Bar-raising organizational skills and an ability to manage complex projects from end to end
The base pay range for this position in Colorado is $177,000 – $239,400, however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
