Software Development Engineer

Are you interested in using big data and machine learning to change how millions of customers shop?

Amazon’s Try Before You Buy (TBYB) org is growing its Recommendations team. We are looking for a top notch Software Development Engineer to build new systems to help customers discover, browse, and buy ‘Trending’ clothes relevant for them, all in one place. As part of this new charter you will get a chance to work with leaders across Softlines to understand whats trends mean, how trends impact our business and build highly-scalable continuously evolving systems ground up. We do this using terabytes of data to power our continually increasing array of machine learning systems.

As part of the team you will work with machine learning scientists to build the frameworks we use to train and evaluate new ML models. You will design systems on native AWS to enable rapid experimentation across algorithms and data sources, and will create highly scalable, low latency systems to transform online clothes shopping from an impersonal catalog search to a personalized experience that adapts to customer behavior.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design
· 1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.
· 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field
· Deep hands-on technical expertise, prior experience as a software developer or software development manager preferred
· Experience using and building Machine Learning systems
· Ability to handle multiple, competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to navigate ambiguity and delivery incrementally to the right direction
· A deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, and a track record of shipping software on time
· Experience designing software architectures for scalability, reliability and performance
· A passion for mentoring and growing your team
